Barack Obama's done it!
And we're thrilled. More so because our readers backed him to the hilt.
MiD DAY's reporters, photographers and marketing team spanned across 4 cities yesterday (Bangalore, Bombay, Delhi, Pune) conducting a mock poll on who should become the next US President.
Of the 821 votes we gathered, a resounding 82.7% backed Obama leaving John McCain with just 17.3% of the vote.
Even more interesting were some of the comments from diehard Obama supporters:
“He’s very cute, I like him a lot,” said 22-year-old Hansika K, a marketing professional in Noida on Delhi’s outskirts.
“Oh wow, this is fantastic! I get to vote for my favourite candidate right from here. This is such a cool idea,” said Rani V, an MBA student, at the Central Mall, Bangalore.
“If he becomes President, it will augur well for India. McCain will not be in the interest of our economy,” said Pune marketing executive Somnath Waghmare.
And here's the best one, which came from Mumbai Marketing executive Sujatha Shetty. “I’ve heard Obama worships Lord Hanuman, keeps a picture of Mahatma Gandhi around as inspiration and has a soft corner for the country. India will really benefit if he comes to power.”
We couldn't agree more :-)
